History

AWP's story began in 1992, in Akron, Ohio as a small security company. Our first traffic control customer was Ohio Edison, and by 1998, we joined American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) and adopted ATSSA's training and safety standards for temporary traffic control. During the early 2000's, we expanded operations in all directions, and by 2006, AWP entered its twelfth operating state. In order to allow for quicker growth and expansion, AWP was purchased by Blue Point Capital Partners in 2008, which led to the acquisition of U.S. Traffic Technologies (USTT) the following year. With the addition of USTT, a then Georgia-based traffic control company, AWP's operations expanded south.

Today, AWP is truly America’s Traffic Control Leader. On average, AWP deploys over 1,000 traffic control specialists throughout 17 states every day to serve the needs of contractors and nearly every major public utility from Michigan to New York, and south to Florida. AWP's corporate headquarters is now in Kent, OH, and the company has two divisional operations headquarters: Northern in Canton, OH, and Southern in Atlanta, GA. AWP has more than forty branch facilities, and satellite operations across its service territory.

The company's secret to success is twofold. First, AWP employs the best trained safety workforce in the business, with over 1,600 professionals now working as part of the AWP team. Second, AWP is a comprehensive, one-stop traffic control shop. Leading the way in traffic control and management, AWP provides everything from consultation and design to equipment and implementation and works around the clock to do it, 24/7, 365 days a year.
